"EyeCare America is a public service program of the Foundation of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Our mission is to preserve sight by raising awareness about eye disease and providing access to medical eye care."

ophthalmologists (EyeMDs) often at no out-of-pocket cost to those

Missouri Voters Speak out Against Health Care Reform
Recently Missouri voters had a chance to let their state know what they thought about the health care reform law that President Obama recently signed into law. According to www.online.wsj.com"Voters in Missouri overwhelmingly opposed requiring people to buy health insurance, in a largely symbolic slap at the Obama administration's health overhaul."
"With all precincts reporting, 71% of voters supported Proposition C, establishing a state law that says Missouri cannot compel people to pay a penalty or fine if they fail to carry health coverage. Twenty-nine percent voted against the proposition."
The same article also reported that nationally the Obama health care reform is not keeping high numbers in a recent poll: "A June Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll found that 44% think Mr. Obama's health-care plan is a bad idea, while 40% called it a good idea." Dental Implants are the Way to Go
According to a recent article by www.nytimes.com dental implants are a better choice than dentures. Experts agree that dental implants are much more comfortable than dentures, can last a lifetime and will "also will help protect your bones over time."
Unfortunately though, dental implants are very expensive. Up to $4,500 per tooth and although some dental insurance plans help cover the cost "the annual reimbursement limit is typically $1,500, an amount that hasn't changed in four decades. That may be enough to cover half the cost of a single implant; you will end up paying the rest."

Tree Friendly LTC Insurance
Do you have enough in your retirement savings to live in the assisted living home of your choice? What if you want home care? Long term care insurance is designed to provide you help with these services due to a long term illness or long term disability.
Now there is a company that is throwing out all the paper and doing it completely online. According to www.prnewswire.com, "Dispense with the paper and the delay; complete an electronic application, with live hand-holding, and get an answer pronto. The agency is LTC Financial Partners LLC (LTCFP), one of the nation's most experienced long term care insurance agencies."
"The move beyond paper extends LTCFP's earlier move toward technological efficiency. In June, 2008, the company announced "going green" to save time and millions of gallons of gasoline per year -- through telephone interviews in place of the traditional in-home interview. The program offered convenience to consumers and doubled the productivity of some of LTCFP's agents, which numbered in the hundreds. In addition, the program eliminated long, gas-guzzling drives to consumers' homes."

Water Damage or Flood?
Unfortunately, a lot of people do not have flood insurance. When water damage happens to one's house due to a flood, they are often left with a mess and no help from the insurance company. But, it is still important to contact your insurance company if you sustain water damage because sometimes you may have coverage for water damage depending on the situation.
Water damage is covered under a homeowners insurance policy if the problem is due to a storm, such as a tree falling on your roof then rain coming in. So, even if there are storms then a flood, you should be able to get coverage for the water damage due to the storm damage, but the flood damage will only be covered under a flood insurance policy.

California to Consider Pet Insurance Reform
According to the Associated Press, "Democratic state Assemblyman Dave Jones, who is running for state insurance commissioner in the November election, said some of the same practices being corrected by the recently enacted federal health care overhaul are used by pet insurance companies, including denying coverage based on pre-existing conditions."
"Jones has introduced a bill that would make pet insurers post detailed information on their websites so consumers can see exactly what is covered and what is not. They could then compare options, just as if they were buying insurance for themselves in a post-health reform world."
